After performing an internship with Warner Brothers Music, Nikki moved to Los Angeles, California in January 2012 to become part of American melodic metal bands: Before the Mourning and tribute band: The Iron Maidens.

In 2014, Nikki and Before the Mourning parted ways, after which time She joined: Femme Fatale in May 2015. In September 2015, The Iron Maidens brought the former guest guitarist on as a settled member for the ensemble. Nikki and The Iron Maidens vocalist Kirsten Rosenberg appeared as contestants on the August 3, 2017 episode of the music game show Beat Shazam.

In 2017, Nikki released music videos for her solo singles "Save Our Souls" and "As Chaos Consumes", followed by "Heart Shaped Box" in 2018.

In late 2018, Nikki became a touring guitarist for American rock band Heaven Below. In January 2019, she announced that she plans to release her debut solo EP some time that year. In July 2019, the singer announced the title of the album, Harmonies for the Haunted, with a September 2019 announcement that she expects to release the album on October 30, 2019. On October 18, 2019, Nikki debuted "When the Devil Comes Down", her first single from the EP.

In March 2021, the singer announced that she is working on a full length studio album.

Before the turn of the Millenium, on the South Coast of New South Wales, Australia, there was a popular 'heavy rock' band well known for having a young woman with an 'astonishingly loud and powerful voice' and a guitarist with 'amazing versatility'. The band was called 'Labyrinth' and the two musicians in question were Genevieve Rodda and Anthony 'Fox' Roberts. Labyrinth eventually came to an end having recorded a number of demos and an independently released E.P. - 'Escape Reality'. Genevieve and 'Fox' as he was now commonly known, decided to pursue their shared passion for heavy music in a larger scene and Sydney seemed like a good place to find the musicians they needed for the direction they wanted to go...

"...to use all the different musical elements of heavy metal from the different genres to define the emotion of the songs we were writing... there were - in our opinion- too many bands picking a genre and then just sticking to the formula. Safe... and boring... and far too restrictive." - Fox

In late 2003, 'Temtris' entered the studio with the intention of recording an E.P., but things went so well that they came out the other end with a full album, 'THRESHOLD'. Only 100 copies were produced and the CD was only available at shows.

A deal was struck with new Independent Australian Heavy Metal label BATTLEGOD PRODUCTIONS, and in 2008 Temtris released 'MASQUERADE', a much darker album than it's predecessor.

SHALLOW GRAVE was released in 2014. The album itself was another impressive step up for the band, with tracks such as 'Slave to the System', and 'Shallow Grave' quickly achieving high rotation on metal radio stations worldwide. A much larger scale tour ensued, culminating in a performance that earned them rave reviews in front of over 1,000 metalheads in support of German metal legends 'Accept' at Sydney's Factory Theatre.

In 2016 Temtris released ENTER THE ASYLUM, a 'themed album', where every song represented a room (and it's inhabitant) in an asylum. Fans and metal radio alike quickly embraced new tracks such as Mind Games, Empty Room, Phoenix, and the title track Enter the Asylum.

Barely pausing to draw breath, Temtris charged into 2018 with another full-length album. First came the track 'Run', complete with windswept video, released on vinyl with a bonus b-side of Paradise Road (from Threshold). Then came the album - RAPTURE - awarded 'Australian Metal Album of the Year' by Global Metal Apocalypse.

Frontiers Music Srl is thrilled to announce the signing of Smackbound to a multi-album deal! Smackbound is a metal band from Helsinki, Finland featuring the multi-talented vocalist and actress Netta Laurenne, who founded the group in 2015. Guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari (WINTERSUN) was the first to join Netta in the band and they were soon joined by Rolf Pilve (STRATOVARIUS, WINTERSUN) on drums, Vili Itäpelto (TRACEDAWN) on keyboards, and Tuomas Yli-Jaskari (TRACEDAWN) on bass. 

“I am so happy to belong to the Frontiers family. Smackbound was looking for a deal and wanted to partner with someone who shows true passion in working with us. After several months of discussions, we agreed that Frontiers was the right label for us. The journey is just beginning, thanks for walking with us,” says vocalist Netta Laurenne.

Soon after their formation, the band started crafting their own songs while simultaneously forming a cover band, Run for Cover, to begin developing their live chemistry without delay. Songs came together quickly and the band debuted with a string of successful videos and singles including “Drive it Like You Stole It,” “Wall of Silence,” and “Run,” which caught the attention of Frontiers A&R team, who are always on the hunt for the best emerging talent. After immediately being floored by these three songs, Frontiers reached out to the band to begin conversations, which ultimately culminated in a deal being struck. The three aforementioned singles will be included on the band’s debut album, “20/20”, which is expected to be released worldwide in early May.

"We wanted to make metal mixed with all the goodies we love in music, yet you can't beat the force and energy of metal. That's why we brought everything to it,” says Netta. She adds that the "debut album is called "20/20"! The name reflects the message of the whole album, it’s time for us all to have 20/20 vision. We wanna get to the bottom of things and cut the bullshit. We show ourselves in the good and the bad, both vulnerable and angry, and ask for honesty and integrity in return. We do this with unconditional love and by not having lost faith in the world. We call out for the truth." 

"20/20" was recorded at Sonic Pump Studios, produced by the band, and mixed and mastered by Jesse Vainio (Sunrise Avenue, Apocalyptica, Poets Of The Fall).

In 2013 “Surrender To No One” marked the return of original vocalist Leather Leone. Long considered one of the originators of the female power metal vocal style. In 2016 Leather resurfaced with a new band. The band includes Vinnie Tex and Daemon Ross on guitars. Thiago Velasquez on bass and Braulio Drumond on drums. After successful tours in South America and Europe, Leather and the band realized their combined inspiration and they wrote and recorded new material. Leather quotes “I’m extremely excited to be back in game we look forward to our new journey together.” 

In 1984, she was connected to metal guitar virtuoso David T. Chastain, who was known at the time for his band CJSS, featuring bassist Mike Skimmerhorn. She joined his new band, CHASTAIN, as the Lead Vocalist. The first lineup, which was featured on the album Mystery Of Illusion (1985), had Skimmerhorn on Bass and Fred Coury as Drummer, who would go on to Cinderella shortly after this. She recorded 5 albums with Chastain, Mystery Of Illusion (1985), Ruler Of The Wasteland(1986), The 7th Of Never (1987), Voice Of The Cult (1988), and For Those Who Dare (1990) with other members of Chastain who went on to bands including: Ken Mary with House of Lords, Fifth Angel, Alice Cooper and Accept; John Luke Herbert and David Harbour with King Diamond; Pat O’Brien with Cannibal Corpse. 

After Chastain’s: For Those Who Dare tour finished in 1991, the world waited for more. Then Leather disappeared. For years fans searched and wondered what had happened to the “Voice of the Cult”, the only female vocalist ever to be compared to Rob Halford from Judas Priest, Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden and Geoff Tate.

A Sound of Thunder delivers a unique and exciting blend of classic heavy metal, progressive, and rock.  The young upstarts from Washington, DC pay no heed to trends, focusing on quality song-writing with memorable melodies and riffs that stand the test of time.  With first class musicianship all around, the band's not-so-secret weapon is vocalist Nina Osegueda.  Standing only 5' 1", the diminutive singer packs the vocal wallop of someone twice her size.  Described as a "heavy metal Swiss army knife", Osegueda moves effortlessly from delicate whisper to overwhelming power, with the occasional banshee wail thrown in for good measure! 

A Sound of Thunder was formed in 2008 by guitarist Josh Schwartz and drummer Chris Haren.  After over a year of numerous line-up changes and false starts, in late 2009 they were joined by vocalist Nina Osegueda, who had grown restless in her previous band and was in search of broader musical horizons.  The chemistry between Schwartz, Haren and Osegueda was instant, and the band wasted no time recording their self-titled debut EP in late 2009, and follow up single benefitting the West Memphis Three in early 2010. 

A Sound of Thunder (or "ASoT" as they are known by their fans) played their first live show with Osegueda in February, 2010.  Gigging frequently in the local Washington area, they began opening for national acts, including Accept, Sabaton, Loudness, Primal Fear, Doro, Kamelot, and a host of others, gaining precious experience and developing a formidable stage presence of their own. 

Though to this point the bass chores had been handled by short-timers and fill-ins, ASoT forged on with the recording of their debut album, "Metal Renaissance".  It was in the midst of recording "Metal Renaissance", in mid-2010, that bassist and keyboard player Jesse Keen arrived.  The musical and personal chemistry with Keen was instant, and thus the band's definitive line-up was cemented.  The release of "Metal Renaissance" in March 2011 drew positive reviews and was punctuated with a headlining gig at Baltimore's prestigious Rams Head Live! venue. 

Never content to rest, A Sound of Thunder immediately began recording their second album, "Out of the Darkness".  Feeling that previous self-produced efforts had not captured the band's potential on record, ASoT tapped producer Kevin "131" Gutierrez (While Heaven Wept, Shinedown) for production.  With a full permanent line-up now in place for the entire writing and recording process, and a bona fide and road-tested producer on board, the band and its fans all agree that A Sound of Thunder finally arrived with "Out of the Darkness".  Stretching out into new musical territory, the album showcased ASoT's signature riff-laden songwriting, but with additional nuances and complexity, and multiple layers of harmonized guitars and vocals, keyboards, and even a string quartet.  Released in March of 2012, "Out of the Darkness" received overwhelmingly positive reviews in metal press around the world, and the band embarked on its first full-fledged tour, covering thousands of miles throughout the United States. 

A Sound of Thunder continued recording at a relentless place, starting work on its third full-length album in mid-2012.  By this time the band had developed a reputation as one of the most fan-friendly bands in metal, so the band fittingly turned to its beloved fans, known as the "Legion of Thunder", to fund the album.  Utilizing the Kickstarter crowd-funding platform, the Legion of Thunder raised over $8,000 for the production of "Time's Arrow".  Released on the band's own label, Mad Neptune Records, in June of 2013, "Time's Arrow" raised the bar for ASoT's song-writing, performances, and production.  The album made many writers' "Best of 2013" lists, receiving coverage from more and larger media outlets than ever before, and proving that with the power of their fans behind them, A Sound of Thunder will continue to deliver world class metal. 

In 2014 A Sound of Thunder released their 4th full-length album "The Lesser Key of Solomon".  Funded by a Kickstarter campaign which raised over $23,000, the album again made many metal critics' Best of 2014 lists, and earned the band its first Billboard chart entry, landing at number 43 on the Heatseekers Albums Chart. 

In 2015 A Sound of Thunder announced a partnership with major comic book publisher Valiant Entertainment, resulting in the bands fifth album "Tales from the Deadside", a concept album based on Valiant's SHADOWMAN comic book series.  A Kickstarter campaign for the album earned over $30,000 while the album landed at #16 on the Billboard Hard Rock Albums Chart, #8 on the Heatseekers Albums chart, and #1 on the Heatseekers Albums Mid-Atlantic regional chart. 

In 2016 A Sound of Thunder released a fan-exclusive full-length cover album entitled "Who Do You Think We Are?".  Available only through a Kickstarter campaign which earned over $31,000, the album features the band's own unique versions of classic tracks by Alice Cooper, Rainbow, Mercyful Fate, Manowar, Tool, Kansas, Black Sabbath, Dio, Deep Purple, and Judas Priest.

In August 2019, Scarlet Aura has released the first single “High In The Sky” from the upcoming album that is ought to be released in 2020th – the 2nd album from the trilogy “The Book of Scarlet” that is accompanied also by the 3 fantasy books. On 22nd of March 2019 the band released a new album via Silver City Records with the title: “Hot’n’Heavy”!

Scarlet Aura has been already promoting the album on a 26 shows headlining tour in China in November-December 2018 and in Europe in September 2018th as “Hot’n’Heavy Release Album Tour”.

“Hot’n’Heavy” is Scarlet Aura’s 4thhighly-anticipated studio album, recording and production for which took place between January and May 2018, and heavily draws from symphonic and power metal to heavy metal and stays within unique sound and vision of Scarlet Aura. With the new album, the band brings a heavy sound, state-of-the-art production, and more dark and deeper lyrics about finding your true meaning and how to be yourself, how to dare to be different and have no fear as one never be alone through music, the right to fight for what you believe in and also for love, for friendship and music.

The CD was released on 22nd of March 2019th and it’s also accompanied by the publication of “The book of Scarlet – Ignition” (the first book within a trilogy) written by Scarlet Aura’ singer-songwriter Aura Danciulescu. Precious Metal - The Early Days

Precious Metal made quite a name for themselves in the 80’s rock scene of LA’s Sunset Strip.

Together the fearsome five combined glam/rock/pop into a perfect meld of top-tier melodic rock anthems, all while adding their own blend of attitude, hard rock style and of course a dose of glamour. Precious Metal’s well-crafted edgy melodic metal/pop rock proved a successful mix and live they delivered.

Front-woman Leslie Knauer, drummer Susette Andres, lead and rhythm guitarist Janet Robin, rhythm and lead guitarist Mara Fox and bassist Alex Rylance complete the bands original line-up. Then a bit later came Carol Control on Drums.

It wasn’t long before the girls were honing their trademark sound playing LA’s clubs. Word of mouth followed and garnering interest from LA DJ Eddie X, KROQ ho featured the bands demos on all his radio shows! 

That led to a chance hearing by then Polygram/Mercury Records Vice-President Russ Reagan of “Girls Night Out” in his car led him to signing the band in early 1985.

Also signed to a production deal with producer Paul Sabu, Precious Metal’s first album “Right Here, Right Now,” (Mercury/Polygram) was recorded over the fall of 1985 with Sabu at the helm and saw a January 1986 release. 

“Cheesecake” a signature song from the bands live set, was chosen to be the first single, but the was soon overshadowed when another song “Bad Guys” found it’s way onto the soundtrack of a movie of the same name. 

A music video was produced for “Bad Guys” and received much-attention on MTV’s Headbangers Ball and later VH1.

Another appearance in “Scenes From A Goldmine” followed, featuring the bands rendition of the 60s’ classic “Twist & Shout.” 

The following year popular Dutch outfit “The Dolly Dots” would follow in Precious Metal’s footsteps with a cover of their song “This Girl” and a performance cameo in the movie “Dutch Treat.” The song would subsequently chart in the top 10 of numerous European countries.

Established in 2011, Rebel Queens is a 70s-80s inspired band of hard-working, fun-loving women based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The band was formed by Tiffany Beamer (Lead Vocals) with strong influence from the 70's all-female band, The Runaways. Rebel Queens combines the snarl of Joan Jett with the soul of Led Zeppelin in the same way they seamlessly blend classic rock tracks and original music. Their professional musicianship and ballsy stage presence pours in to each song with soaring-yet-gritty vocals, wailing guitar solos, tight harmonies, and a rock-solid rhythm section. Alexandra has a voice to be reckoned with! This melodic songbird has beautiful range performing original songs, rock ‘n roll, R&B, Pop, and some of our most treasured American standards. It’s apropos that her guitar of choice would be a Gibson Songbird. Alexandra knew at a very young age that she loved music and needed it in her life; always singing to pass the time – Alex’s favorite!

When Alex left home, she followed some friends to the Oregon coast – a place she had visited during a Senior Class trip and had longed to return there. She found herself in Eugene, Oregon and her first paying gig at the Creamery Annex. She played there four nights a week during Happy Hour where she was picked up by a booking agent that signed her to play several clubs along the Pacific Coast.

Alex decided to head to Colorado with some friends, which offered a new inspiring environment! Soon after arriving she was playing at The Musical Spoon in the afternoons and happy hour at a Rock ‘n Roll Show Club in Colorado Springs where she would talk herself up on stage to play with the band – she lived for this! In 1980 Alex joined an all girl band named “Dreamer” and spent a year and a half playing with them.

Judy Saiya is a singer songwriter from Northern NJ. Her musical spectrum spans acoustic pop to hard rock. Her writing was inspired by the great bands of the 70’s such as Fleetwood Mac, Steely Dan, and Jefferson Airplane, but she has a voice and vibe that’s uniquely hers.

Judy began writing even before she learned to play guitar and this is the major force as to why she remains performing today. She has amassed an impressive catalog of songs which she refers to as “Stories with attitude” She has released two CDs, Forget Last Night & View and has always been the leader of her own band.

Although she never stopped writing, Judy put performing on hold to run operations for a start- up pro audio design firm, Empirical Labs. Later that company would go on to have one of the best loved pieces of gear in audio history and find its place in the TEC Hall Of Fame. Empirical Labs reconnected Judy with several people from her musical past, one of them being guitarist and music producer Steven DeAcutis. also known as Stevie D. Steve had played on Judy’s first recording project and this meeting sparked an interest to get back into the studio. Music has always been a part of singer, songwriter & guitarist, Jessie Haynes life. During her toddler years you might’ve found her mimicking bits of classical pieces she’d heard her father playing on his piano, or asleep on the pillow in the kick drum of his band in their basement. The daughter of Richard Gilks, writer for KPM/EMI, Haynes was born on Long Island, NY.

At age 6, her parents loaded up their ’63 Volvo & drove to LA, where Jessie did most of her growing up, in Echo Park, forming local garage bands until they moved back to NY at age 15. A few short years later, Haynes founded & became lead guitarist & primary songwriter for the all-female rock band, “Sweet Little Sister.” While promoting their release on CMI Records, the band opened for acts such as Johnny Winter, Leslie West & Mountain, Baby Animals, Randy Jackson of Zebra, Dee Snyder of Twisted Sister, The Barefoot Servants & more, as well as contributing to countless benefits & festivals all over Long Island, Manhattan, upstate New York, New Jersey & Connecticut. Haynes also formed a 4 piece acoustic, all female band to work on Long Island called Loona while SLS was popular, managing booking & promotion for both groups.

During this time, Haynes was hired to perform on rhythm guitar & backing vocals for “Blackmore’s Night,” legendary Ritchie Blackmore’s latest project with Candice Night. Ira Green, born in April 23 1989 in Mugnano Di Napoli.  She get close to rock and hard rock music thanks to her parents, expecially her father passion for this kind of sounds. More of ten years of mess tin between several music clubs, made her a complete musician that can live just with gigs, testing herself with different instruments she fallen in love with bass.

She also had to fight against bullism and her shyness trying every kind of art like dancing and teather acting and we can say that she damnly won this battle.

After several auditions she reached The Voice of Italy’s Blind Auditions surprising all five judges with her personal rendering of Black Dog from Led Zeppelin that you can find on YouTube with more of five millions of views. During her stay in the show she performed some of the most famous rock songs as Back in Black from AC/DC, Smoke on the water from Deep Purple and more with some classical italians rock songs written by Vasco Rossi and Gianna Nannini that her coach chose for her, gettin’ more people close to her world even if they never listened to rock music. Ira has come back in town! She’s back to her love: the real stage. After all this promiscuos experiences she can finally have what she love, the people contact. Starting her tour in her native land, she reached one of the most prestigious clubs in Italy called LIVE MUSIC CLUB in Milan then she touched Austria, Swiss and Czech Republic with her music. In the meanwhile, some records companies try to get cose to her trying to change her personality but with no hope in that. Why?

Far back in time in the Egyptian era. The last Pharaoh Cleopatra went to the river Nile to catch a few vipers. She didn`t not want to live any more. She wanted to commit suicide to die in fast way. Dead set on doing so she put the snake box into her vault built of hundreds of stones. All the serpents bit her to death but only one didn`t. This viper took the crown from Cleopatra’s brow and put it on his tiny head. It took her several days to dig herself through the cold stone grave into the light and into freedom. 

Bandinfo Velvet Viper 2019 

Velvet Viper were founded in 1990 by Jutta Weinhold after her quite successful band Zed Yago had broken apart. After the release of two albums („Velvet Viper“ in 1990 and „Fourth Quest for Fantasy“ in 1992) the band was put on ice.

In 2015 Jutta teamed up with guitarist Holger Marx and started working on the comeback album „Respice Finem“ (released in 2018 via GMR Music), which was very well received in many magazines and other media of the metal scene. It was brought to the stage successfully and in 2019 led the band to play the Headbanger‘s Open Air and the Wacken Open Air, where they earned very positive reactions.

On October 25th, 2019 the second album of the new band era, „The Pale Man is holding a broken Heart“, will be released via Massacre Records.

The songwriting team Weinhold / Marx have nailed down their style even better und at the same time they managed to build a bridge to the first Velvet Viper album from 1990 by including a few more up-tempo songs. The sound was designed by Tommy Newton in his Area 51 Studios and is even more powerful and clearer than on the previous album, and it mirrors the live sound of the band perfectly.

As always in Velvet Viper, the lyrics relate to fantasy and myth and many have literary sources: The Wheel Has Come Full Circle, for example, refers to Shakespeare‘s King Lear, Götterdämmerung is about Richard Wagner‘s The Ring of the Nibelung, Samson and Delilah tells the story of the invincible rebel from the biblical antiquity, and One-eyed Ruler is about the Norse god Odin who sacrificed one eye. These subjects create an atmosphere that perfectly fits to the epic and often dark heavy metal with its traditional vibe and Jutta‘s dramatic vocals which are loved by many fans.

THE ROCK SINGER 

Jenny Darren - a singer from the age of 12; Heavily influenced by rhythm & blues players, went on to obtain a deal with the folk/blues label Transatlantic records, in her formative teenage years. In her early twenties, Jenny burst onto the rock scene supporting AC/DC on tour. Probably the only Female rock singer ever to do so.

Missing out by a hairs breadth, with a late single release of Heartbreaker, which was a hit for American Rock Vocalist -Pat Benatar. Albeit written for Jenny by Manchester songwriting team - Geoff Gill & Cliff Wade. After recording and releasing no less than four albums on DJM records. Thereafter, supporting be bop deluxe on a live BBC performance of “Sight & Sound in Concert”.

Many gigs, tours, & Festivals later, Jenny hung up her rock heels in the 80’s, to venture into a soirée of jazz & crossover classical avenues.. Fast forward to 2015, which saw her returning to her rock roots. Angel Air records released a “Best of” Compilation of the DJM vinyl releases, getting Jenny's music onto CD for the first time. Ultimately deciding to re record Heartbreaker on the recommendation of a friend, she began to work on a brand new album. In the interim, recording an album with the Finnish Prog Rock Band..... Paidarion, with the album-The Finlandia Project, which was released in November 2016.

The August 2017 album release - Ladykiller, by Jenny Darren & The Ladykillers, includes two versions of Heartbreaker, one being a brand new acoustic version. The album features Rock notables such as - Iron Maiden drummer - Nicko McBrain, together with guitarist - Graham Oliver (Saxon) bassist - Chris Slade (AC/DC) Pete Way (UFO) Guitarist Robin George (Phil Lynott Band) & fiddle player Tom Leary (Lindisfarne) 2018 In May, Jenny released an album of previously unreleased 1970/80’s material, entitled “Rare Bird in Rock “ written by herself & Prog Rock England keyboard player - Robert Webb. Together with a download re- release in July of the 1980 Jenny Darren album, re-entitled .... GAUPA (lynx in swedish) is a rock band from Falun, Sweden. GAUPA had a busy 2018/2019 with playing at different festivals and venues. Critics seemed not only impressed by the studio recordings and diverse arrangements but also by the level of intensity displayed live. GAUPA seem to leave their audiences both in astonishment and with a good sense of ache in their necks.

Rosy Vista, Germany's first female  hard rock band – was in existence for 5 years from 1985 to 1989.

 During this time the band, based around guitarist Anca Graterol, released an EP and several professionally produced singles. Rosy Vista played sensational shows as well, among others with legends like Uriah Heep, Joe Cocker, Manfred Mann´s Earthband and Mötley Crüe. There was just one last thing missing: An entire album.

 On Feb, 8th this year that gap has been filled because Rosy Vista has been reassembled with their debut comeback album "Unbelievable", exactly 35 years after the band was founded... literally an "unbelievable" story!

"We´ve thought about this for many years but some things need time to grow." said founder Anca Graterol, who is backed up by Andrea Schwarz (Vocals) and Marina Hlubek (Drums). New in the band is bass player Angela Mann.

"Unbelievable" has been released by STEAMHAMMER/SPV as digipak-CD, vinyl-LP and digital download.

"It´s like the first big love you never forget", said Graterol while talking about her emotions for Rosy Vista and went on: "After meeting fortuitously in 2008 at a concert we realized that we still feel the old vibes with each other, so we decided to get back together as soon as possible to reach our as yet unattained goal."

So here it is: "Unbelievable" contains eleven originals and one cover-version, six of them are all new tunes, composed by all the members, followed by five tracks from the EP back in 1985 - rearranged and remixed and a stunning cover of Steppenwolf's classic "Born To Be Wild".

Graterol: "We all agreed to keep the musical identity of the original cast without distorting it with new, modern influences. This kind of rock music is timeless anyway and does not adjust itself to the spirit of the ages. Of course, we have increased our skills over the years, and "Unbelievable" takes advantage of modern production techniques. Everything you will hear on that album was great fun and is absolutely authentic."

Graterol talks about the grooving opener "Crazy", the hymnic refrain of "Master Of Control", the nasty "Too Much Feeling", "Changin‘ My Mind" co-composed by Barbara Schenker or the irony of "Poor Rosy", a Rosy Vista classic. But also the newly arranged "Sadistic Lover", "Tables Are Turned", "Sound Of Your Love", "Until I’m Satisfied" and "Rockin’ Through The Night" from the 1985 EP days, which shine like old light through new windows.

Besides the high quality of all the songs...one of them has to have a special mention: "Hopatina" is a rock-version of a song that Anca Graterol wrote in her early days with her band CATENA. That song, inspired by a Turkish belly dance tune, was a smash hit in Romania in the 70´s, remaining in the Top 5 for weeks.

But why did Rosy Vista decide to cover "Born To Be Wild"? "We played BTBW back in the 80´s on many festivals. We loved it and we still do." said Graterol. Another highlight: The cover artwork is from Bernhard Paul & Steffen Maier ("just like Lennon & McCartney“) from Circus Roncalli.

So...it´s done! Rosy Vista fulfilled their biggest dream not only for themselves but for their fans worldwide.

Since first coming together in the English Midlands in 2006, Alunah have trafficked in a blend of the earthly and the unearthly.

Over the course of their four albums – 2010’s Call of Avernus, 2012’s White Hoarhound, 2014’s Awakening The Forest and 2017's Solennial – the four-piece have been a constant force of progression into an individualized take on psychedelic and organic heft. Since being born in Stockholm, Sweden, Liz Vandall has lived an unconventional, yet somehow conventional life that has brought her all over the world.  

After emigrating to the USA at the age of three, she grew up in Rhode Island, realizing very early on that she had a unique voice and a love for music and singing. From the age of nine, much of her time was devoted to practicing with her favorite records and singing into a plethora of whatever household items were at hand and the trusty old upright vacuum cleaner until 1983. When Hollywood beckoned its finger.  

The next phase in Los Angeles included professional vocal training by notable coach Seth Riggs (Cher, Streisand, Michael Jackson, ad infinitum), the usual ads in Musician Connection Magazine for local band auditions, with with the culmination of settling down finally in Sahara, a five- piece semi-progressive heavy rock band. Sahara recorded two albums, Going Crazy and The Seventh House (released in Europe and Japan) enjoying substantial sales, radio airplay and garnering widespread critical acclaim with quotes such as, “One of the greatest singers in the world” and “One of the most powerful voices in all of music, period!” in various music publications. After nearly nine years of existence, July of 1995 brought with it the demise of the band with Diane Arens (one-third of the core writing team of Vandall, Arens and Woodward) leaving the music business entirely. As Liz puts it, "Within the context of Sahara, Diane was irreplaceable and we found it impossible to go on." And so, began a time of deep soul-searching, contemplation and evolution into the next era.  

After deciding to pursue a solo career, composer/musician/guitarist extraordinaire, Uli Jon Roth (formerly of the Scorpions), unexpectedly contacted Liz to record vocals for his upcoming album, Requiem for an Angel, thus putting her plans on hold temporarily. She then went on to tour as vocalist with Uli Jon Roth in 1998 throughout Europe during the G3 Tour  with Joe Satriani and Michael Schenker. The band consisted of music veterans Don Airey (Deep Purple, Ozzy Osbourne, Rainbow, etc.) Clive Bunker (Jethro Tull) and Francois Garny. (A highlight from these shows was the live performance of the introduction to Roth's "Hiroshima Symphony" which can be heard on the album Transcendental Sky Guitar  which was released September, 2000 worldwide).  

In 1997, Liz moved to the United Kingdom where she lived until 2006. Following the birth of her daughter, Akasha Dawn Roth in 1998, she devoted most of her time to being a mother. However, she did make guest appearances at a few select shows. She performed at the 2002 Legends of Rock Tour  featuring Uli Jon Roth, Jack Bruce, Glenn Hughes and Frank Marino and also at the 2004 Rock Meets Rennaisance  concert performing with Roth's Sky Orchestra featuring a performance of one of her own songs, “Falling from the Sky” and a duet of the Jimi Hendrix song, “Angel” with singer, Doro Pesch.  

A temporary move to Germany in 2006, led to the long-awaited release of Uli Jon Roth's album, Under a Dark Sky  in 2008 - a rock opera which featured Liz along with Mark Boals (Yngwie Malmsteen, Royal Hunt, Ring of Fire) on vocals. A world tour followed, spanning New Zealand, Japan, USA, and Europe, with the UK leg opening for the Scorpions. 

Currently, since late 2011, she is residing again in the UK and has worked on various recording projects including collaborations with Tony Martin (ex-Black Sabbath) resulting in recording two duets; "Poison Roses" and "Bring on the Night". "Poison Roses" is a remake of a previously released track from Dario Mollo & Tony Martin's The Cage II album. "Bring on the Night" was co-written by Liz, Tony and Aldo Giuntini for his upcoming Giuntini  album. Liz was also featured on two songs "Nostalgia" and "Meteors in the Blue" on The Time of the Equinox, in 2012 by Amadeus Awad, a progressive rock Lebanese artist. 2015 brought the release of Uli Jon Roth's Scorpions Revisited  in which Liz is featured on the song, “Pictured Life”. 

Today, Liz has begun writing and recording again in her home studio and upcoming plans are to re-release Sahara's two albums along with previously unreleased tracks and video and discussions are currently underway.

Formed in 2018, the band has enjoyed many successes playing alongside Melbourne legends (Creek, The Dead Amigos) and cutting their teeth at some of Melbourne’s most iconic venues (Cherry Bar, Evelyn Hotel).

They released their debut single/video ‘Inhibition,’ in 2018 to critical acclaim. Heavy Mag comments: ‘Zenith Moon have crafted a particularly exciting debut in Inhibition...everything about the track is massive, from the face-melting guitar to the bold, empowering vocals from lead singer Kahli Rose.’

Zenith Moon’s sophomore single, Bare (Be My Baby), is at its core is a love song about that overwhelming feeling of vulnerability felt while falling, with lead singer Kahli’s performance being described as “Deep, confident and glazey.” The track was met with equal praise: even getting airtime on Triple J’s Roots’n’all and all over Australia on the community radio network.

Hungry for greener pastures, the band joined forces with Golden Robot Records (Sydney), signing a developmental deal in mid 2019. This marriage will see the fruition of two brand new singles ‘Going Under’ and ‘Illuminate’ in 2020.

The band was originally formed with Guitarist Juan Ugarte in 2009, at which time the band broke up for various reasons, not without leaving a legacy, and a background that served to reformulate the band 10 years later.

Biography of the Band

In the year 2015, Juan Ugarte, who had been playing guitar in another band, decided to call Javier Villegas to play together, and the idea of forming a band of this genre was born, first by these two members.

After a lot of searching, rehearsing and composing for several weeks translated into months, he arrived at his studio, Lucia. At their audition, they were pleasantly surprised by their power, strength and attitude, so they decided that their presence in the band would be essential to sustain the strength of their lyrics.

From the rehearsals already with a vocalist but without a bassist, they spent many months insisting on producing new songs. In the meantime, they sought many collaborators but were unlucky. However, the presence of very good musicians, such as Shirley Urquieta and Flavio Herrera contributed a very strong dose of integrity and identity to their music. Unfortunately they did not continue with the band.

It was June 2017 when, the opportunity arose to play at a friend's birthday party. For this date they didn't have a bassist, until the morning of that day. However, Javier, contacted Jona Maiden, who accompanied them that first night live and continued playing with them for some months.

Marcio Revilla, who also had a huge taste for Heavy Glam Metal, was called to play with them and they started rehearsing.

But they didn't continue either for different reasons with the band. They were many months only the three of them, rehearsing to give form to their own songs and to continue composing. Finally, in the middle of 2017 Rocko Takarai appeared with his powerful bass and stayed with the band. And in the same way, at the end of that same year, Angelita Barreda joined, replacing Javier who, for personal reasons, had to leave the band, and as a guitarist, Jossein Martinez, who is also part of the band until this moment.

Since then, the band has played in several places in Arequipa, rehearsing and recording their first EP, called Heartbeat, which contains 5 tracks of Heavy, Glam and Power Metal. It has also been presented in local tv interviews and videoblogs. He is also on the verge of recording his first video clip called "Heartbeat", which will also be his first single of the year, soon to be released by the local media.

Since then the dream is still being written.

RAMPART was founded in 2006 around the vocalist Maria Diese. Many worthy musicians gave their contribution in building this fortress of Heavy Metal on the Balkans.

The bastion was built in 2008 with the release of the demo “Warriors". It got some highly encouraging feedback from the European metal underground press.

In 2009 the band recorded new material and released its debut album "Voice of the Wilderness" via the French label Inferno Records.

In 2011 RAMPART recorded their new EP “A Tale to Cold”. It was released as a cassette single in 2011, and as a CD with three bonus tracks in 2012. The band promoted these mini-releases with gigs in the United Kingdom.

RAMPART's sophomore concept studio album “War Behest” was released in June, 2012. The band promoted it with a tour in Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Netherlands, and France.

RAMPART recorded their third album “Завера / Conspiracy” with Bulgarian lyrics in 2013. The CD was released in the fall of 2013 via the Bulgarian label Metal Industries. This album is a special recognition to the Bulgarian metal fans that supported the band throughout the last years. Around 400 of their names are included in the CD booklet.

RAMPART had the pleasure to share the stage with bands like SAXON, KREATOR, QUEENSRYCHE, FLOTSAM AND JETSAM, ANVIL, UDO DIRKSCHNEIDER, SCANNER, BLAZE BAYLEY, SUSPERIA, HATE, ARKONA, WITCHBURNER, GODSLAVE, CRIPPER, GUARDIANS OF TIME, PICTURE, LONEWOLF, ELVENPATH, IRON MASK, METAL WITCH, WIZARD, and many more.

The hard work and the releases of RAMPART allowed the band to participate in festivals in festivals in Germany (Wacken Open Air ; Taunus Metal Open Air - Oberursel), Greece (Rock You to Hell Fest, Athens), Belarus(Metal Crowd Festival), Netherlands (Dynamo and PopEI, Eindhoven), United Kingdom(Guildford and London), Hungary (MetalWar Fest, Budapest), Serbia (CrossBorder Fest, Nis), Romania (Rock pe 2 Roti, Lugoj), France (Rising Fest II, Dijon),and Belgium (Iron Steel Fest, Genk).

In 2016 RAMPART took part in Udo DIRKSCHNEIDER's "Back to the Roots" tour with special guests ANVIL in Denmark and Sweden.

The band released its fourth album „Codex Metalum” on 8 April 2016 on Iron Shield Records.

RAMPART had the honor to take part in Wacken Open Air 2017 with a special show.

Now, RAMPART finished the recordings of their 5th album “WWII: Memories for the Future”. The main topic line of all its lyrics is concept and features less known historical facts about the World War II.

RAMPART can’t wait to crush your town and bang their heads together with all of you!

How did the members of Aeroscreamer first get together ?

(Leire) In my case it was purely by chance, when a friend of mine who knew Ekaitz recommended me as a singer when they were looking for one. I did the audition and I became part of the band.

(Ekaitz) I was looking for a band to do Heavy Metal without labels, giving special emphasis to the presence of keyboards and synthesizers. I knew that my cousin Beñat played the piano and also the guitar, so I proposed to him to join the project. So, when there is a need to have two guitars we can use them, and when we want to use a synthesizer we can use it without having to reload the songs or force ourselves when composing. Later a mutual friend told me that Dani (drums) was interested in playing Heavy Metal, so he joined the band shortly after. The last to join was Mikel (Bass), in the same way as Dani...

Lightmaker came into being in 2018 after a series of seedy craigslist encounters in dumpy Brooklyn rehearsal spaces. Blending the doom-inspired power chord bludgeoning of Jack Woodward (Gentricide) with the twisting, baleful melodies of Jade Morgan (Dead Temple) and the powerful California backbeat of Brian Murphey (La Otracina), they crafted a hefty concoction comprised of Sabbath-inspired doom, Melvins-infused sludge, with a psychedelic spritz of Jefferson Airplane for spice. Andrew Wicks: It’s taken from what’s called ‘the old hag’ where we’re from. Other cultures have called it the night hag, night mare, or just mare or hag. It’s an interestingly widespread experience where someone feels as though they have awakened from sleep but they are paralyzed, unable to move, with a foreboding figure hovering over them or sitting on their chest - this figure would be the old hag. Everything about that phenomena, the supernatural element, the dream or nightmare side of it, the dread, the mystery...it captures a lot of what we draw from and aim for in what we do.

Classic Rock in the style of british legends MAGNUM, Blackmore inspired riffs and a touch of modern Melodic Metal, all combined with a female lead-singer with a distinct rockvoice, these are the ingredients for the sound of KINGS WINTERs debut EP "Forging The Cataclysm". Named after their german hometown "Königswinter", the band was founded by the married couple Jule and Tobias Dahs as a side-project in late 2018.

Jule began here musical career with her maiden name Zinnow as a part of Melodic Metal outfit SKADIKA in 2005, before the five-piece broke up 9 years later at the end of 2014. Following a three year break she then joined her husband Tobias Dahs and his band LIVING ABYSS, who have recently celebrated a well received comback with their third album "Of Origins Unearthed" and her as a second vocalist.

Tobias on the other hand has been a part of LIVING ABYSS ever since the bands start in early 2007 (when the band was still known as LEVIATHAN) and has most recently also been building his own home-studio in order to record and produce the afore mentioned "Of Origins Unearthed". The studio then played a major role in the developement of KINGS WINTER, as it enabled Tobias to expand his endeavors into the territory of classic Hard Rock, which never would have had a place in the fierce Melodic Death Metal of his main band. During the second half of 2018 some rough ideas quickly became a set of songs, which will now see the light of day on the bands debut "Forging The Cataclysm".

STYGIAN CROWN was formed in 2018 by former MORGION and current GRAVEHILL drummer Rhett Davis, who tapped his GRAVEHILL bandmates Nelson Miranda (guitar) and Jason Thomas (bass) to help launch the band. MORBID ECLIPSE guitarist Andy Hicks was the next to join, and with the help of longtime friend Bob Kassing, vocalist Melissa Pinion was discovered after Kassing (who has since sadly passed away) showed Davis a YouTube video of her singing a cover of IRON MAIDEN’s “Hallowed Be Thy Name”.

“Jason, Nelson and I have been doing GRAVEHILL for quite a while,” notes Davis. “The three of us had always wanted to do a band in this vein so we started writing music in between commitments for GRAVEHILL. The three of us are fans of Andy’s band, MORBID ECLIPSE, and invited him to sit in with us. His chemistry with Nelson — that Adrian Smith/Dave Murray type of chemistry — you can’t fabricate that. Personally, I admire guitarists who can mesh like that. Melissa also has quite a bit of music to contribute — more than we can keep up with.”

To date, STYGIAN CROWN has only the 2018 “Through Divine Rite” demo to their credit. The demo was initially tracked before Pinion joined the band, but once she laid down her vocals and the mixing and mastering process was complete, the three-song offering quickly started making the rounds in the doom community. It wasn’t too long before STYGIAN CROWN fell into the lap of a familiar face.

“We were initially contacted by Skol Records, but while discussing with [label owner] Bart Gabriel, he handed us over to Tom Phillips of WHILE HEAVEN WEPT to instead work with Cruz Del Sur. It was surreal to find ourselves working with Cruz Del Sur, as an old friend of mine Aesop Dekker (ex-AGALLOCH) recommended the label to me months previously. Just them, nobody else.”

STYGIAN CROWN is currently hard at work on their debut self-titled album. Drums will be tracked at Trench Studios (EXHUMED, HIRAX) with John Haddad. Guitars, bass and vocals will be tracked at Miranda’s home studio, and mixing and mastering will be handled by Mark Kelson of THE ETERNAL’s Kelsonic Studios in Australia.

As for what fans can expect, try this combination on for size:

The foundation of Mystery Blue dates back to 1982 by guitarist Frenzy Philippon, shortly after which the band quickly became a household name in the world of Heavy Metal as a result of the release of two successful albums, the eponymous debut LP “Mystery Blue” (via Axe Killer Records), followed by “Circle Of Shame” (via Dream Records/CBS).

Throughout their years of relentless touring, the band have graced the stage alongside legends and big guns such as Motörhead, Def Leppard, Saxon, Vengeance, and their fellow countrymen H-Bomb and Satan Jokers amongst many others, which came to a close as they went on hiatus at the end of the 80s.

In 1996, guitarist and founder Frenzy reformed Mystery Blue with the exceptional vocalist Nathalie Geyer, shortly followed by releasing their third album “Spirit Of Your Song”. In 1998 they recruited Vince Koehler on drums who will soon become more than just a fantastic powerful drummer for the band, the hard core of Mystery Blue was born! Besides Frenzy, Nathalie and Vince, Mystery Blue is today composed of Sylvain Ebersoldt on second guitar and Julien “Ted” Weibel on bass.

Since their reformation, Mystery Blue have powered through Europe opening for bands such as Girlschool, David DeFeis -Virgin Steele, Powerwolf, Rebellion, Paragon, Rockbitch, Wolf, Primordial, Freedom Call, ADX, Heathen, Nightmare and Destruction, as well as having played at big festivals such as the Headbangers Open Air, Swordbrothers, Saarbanger Metal Fest, Feuerfänger Festival, Metal Forces Festival in Germany, the Tilburg Headbangers Fest in Holland, the Dark & Green Metal Fest in Spain, the Underwall in Croatia and of course the Hellfest and the Paris Metal France festival.

What was your musical background before joining Leather Witch? Because I saw that you already had a metallic course with Blackhead, Macabre Bullet and Tania, for Pablo with Tears Of Glory.... 

We have certainly been part of different projects along our music careers. The band you mention, Tears of Glory, was active between 1999 and 2012, it was a power metal oriented band with some progressive cuts, like putting Stratovarius, Helloween and Symphony X in a blender, respecting the obvious differences regarding the level of performance and production haha. It was an incredible experience to me as it was the project in which I did learn how to write songs as it was my debuting act as a composer. We released a full lenght album in 2008 titled « The Innocent Sin Of Existence » and was produced by Andy LaRocque (King Diamond); it´s actually available in all the digital platforms if you wish to give it a shot. Tania also participated in some bands and solo entrepreneurships along her time living in Spain.

Wildchild is a Stoner Heavy Rock band made up of four members  from Sibiu Romania.

A few months after the band's formation, the first songs are released, "Stormblues" and "The Riser", performed for the first time live at the GBOB ARTmania semifinal. The two songs brought them the qualification to the GBOB national final, from where they climbed with the help of supporters and Bravo magazine on the 6th place.

In June 2017 appears the first Wildchild album entitled "Gates Of Expression", already planned from the first meetings of members. The album was promoted through a tour in Romania, the launch taking place in Aby Stage Bar. The band enjoys success nationally and internationally with the help of online promotion platforms.

How did the members of Wildchild first get together? Can you please introduce us to the members?

We met in highschool, we started to be friends very quickly and we all shared the same dream, to have a rock band. We searched for our first drummer and started quickly to play live. Our first drummer was only 11 years old, we composed our first 4 songs with him. With our second drummer, Dragos Diaconu, we finished and released our first album. All the recordings for the songs from the album were done by our bassist, Nicu Baciu, and with some hard work the small pieces were put together. Our guitar player, Emil Dorian was always the rigorous guy in the band and made us develop as musicians constantly.

R. DOOM: I had a previously failed doom project, at that time I met Edu Centurion through extreme metal shows, he was already part of Thot with Lidi. He told me to re-arm my doom project. I was very frustrated and it took me a few months to decide. Until like that after a year of planning we met. We were already known with drinkings and hangouts haha!

How would you best describe the earliest memory you have of hearing music, is there any favorites female singers ? Bands ?

Lidi : I started listening to music at school and attending shows because I realized that it was what I really liked, I had a small band at school but it didn't last long, also at that time I started listening to rock n 'roll and my Maximum influences with female voices were the girls from Girlschool, Warlock, Suzi Quatro and others, when I heard Coven I was even more passionate. And apart from that the female voices of the Blues like Janis Joplin, Etta James and Nina Simone. I also have too many inspirations in male voices like Ian Gillan, Dio and many more.

How and when did the members of Concilium first get together?

I formed Concilium in 2014. I had been trying to get other musicians to work with me since 2011, but couldn't find anyone interested in an epic doom/epic heavy metal project. Everyone I spoke to was more interested in playing stoner/psych/sludge. It was also difficult to find anyone willing to start a band with a woman. Perhaps it's difficult to substantiate this, but it truly seemed as though anyone I tried to recruit would cease communicating with me once they realized I was female.

Maren: The name is inspired by the video game Dark Souls 2 which contains a blacksmith channeling his waning flame. We liked the expression as it captures many things that we convey with our music: a natural force like fire, devotion, but also perishability and melancholia.

Based in Chicago, IL and started in 2015, Black Road is a DIY labor of love. Their musical influences are styles such as metal, rock, heavy blues, psychedelic rock, doom metal, jazz, funk, and folk. The members of the band have joined together with a common passion for music. Tim (guitar) had many projects in the past, but this is the first band where his riffs are front and center, creating the groove for the other three members. With Suzi writing all the lyrics, she and Tim collaborate on a specific feeling or emotion to be conveyed through the songs.

Tim has taken his single-guitar freedom in this band to new heights with each song written. This is the type of band he had always wanted; one where he did not have to compromise to create the sound he imagined. Joining the couple sometime during the month of October 2016, Robert Gonzales (drums) and Casey Papp (bass) were clearly solid additions right from the start. They created a heavy and harmonious backbone for Black Road to build upon. After nailing all the songs for the EP, the 4 band members recorded their debut album together, just months after finalizing the lineup. Taking on this diverse rock group with open arms is DHU Records, based in the Netherlands. Their first EP was released on cassette and vinyl through DHU Records (Netherlands). BloodRock Records (Italy) later signed Black Road for a limited-edition CD run, which was officially released the day the album went live on October 6, 2017. About Cherokee name:  'The Winnetou Films defintely were an argument for that name cause we all grew up with them. But i cannot remember what actually made us choose Cherokee as our bandname. I guess it was some kind of compromise and it kinda fitted to the 70ies styled love and peace Rockband we had in mind when we started the band. My personal favorite back then was Yellow knife. But another pro for the name Cherokee is that you can put your records between your Cher and Chris de Burgh Lps and that's some cool company. Halfbreed by Cher is also a great tune.'

Even before their debut self-titled album hit the internet, Old Blood was recognized as being “different” among the growing waves of doom / stoner rock bands. Signed sight unseen to DHU Records in Europe after the critically acclaimed release of just two demo tracks on bandcamp, Old Blood showed a push into unique territory in the genre with the addition of crystal clear vocals, keyboards an emphasis on heady grooves and an extensive live stage show featuring beyond the wall of amplifiers. In one sentence how would you best describe your vocal style ? And finally what Old Blood represents musically ?

Feathers: I would say a smooth and hearty bold sound, built on a technical background that pairs nicely with a glass of Merlot. Old Blood embodies occult and spectacle for me. It gets harsh and gritty, but then melodic and cathartic. People tell us they don’t do drugs, but after watching our show it feels like they have. I do full makeup and hair for every show, but then onstage it often gets destroyed. C’est la vie, no?

- How and when did the band form and which musical influences were most common amongst all the members ?

Sarah: Jay and I are married (in 2011). We met at a recording studio in 2006. We have always recorded things at home. It took me a while to gain confidence again to sing in front of people outside the studio. In the summer of 2014, we decided to ask our drummer friend Chris DeHaven if he’d want to try a doom band. We had a few different guitarists help us out before Kyle Lewis joined us in 2015. We all love rock and roll and metal, like ZZ Top, High on Fire, and Dio.

-In one sentence, how you best describe what Book Of Wyrms represents musically ?

Reality is bullshit.

- Can you tell us more about the name of the band?

We are very dorky and love word play. We are always coming up with weird phrases or hypothetical band names or something. One day Jay and I were talking about how nerdy we are, like a “bookworm.” Then Jay said, what if it were about Wyrms, like dragons? And we added an “of” in there and we’ve got a fun little play on words.

Methadol was formed at the end of 2005 by the guitarist and singer Manu Dal-Grande, who was soon joined by the bassist Fred Carceller, the drummer Mallory Julia, and the guitarist Stef Piovesan in 2006. In the early 2007, Ghislaine Duchemin joined the band as a chorus-singer.

A self-produced EP was released in May 2007.

After some gigs, Manu decided to dedicate to the vocals. Clément Longuet joined the band as a guitarist in May 2008, followed by John Lacomme replacing Mallory Julia as a drummer.

The first album was recorded and a first mix was done.

Methadol signed with Sliptrick Records (US) and the 1st album "ANGER IN ME" has been released in 2010.

After several line up changes, the last members (Manu Dal-Grande Fred Carceller, François Perrin, Mathieu Gascoin, Julien Marocco) recorded the 2nd album WELCOME TO MY WORLD in 2014.

In July 2021, the band signed with French Music Records. At The Gates Of Hell will be released on January 21, 2022

I would like to know more about the band, how did you met ? And how the idea of the first 'Saxodoom' band came up ?

The first time I(Babett) talked to Tim was at a stoner festival. We talked because we already saw each other at some concerts in Berlin and took the chance on the dance floor to say « hello ». [I believe it actually was the next day, when we were both hungover and looking to get some coffee when we met in line for the coffee bike and started talking… - Tim]

At this time Tim was already playing with Kay (the bassist) and Hannes (our former drummer).

We already knew each other for a while when Tim asked me to come around and rehearse with them since they were looking for a singer. We jammed a few times and then decided to play together as a band.

2018 Hannes had to leave Berlin and the band. I met Markus, our new drummer, at the same festival I met Tim a few years before. In the beginning he just wanted to help us find a new drummer but got interested in our music, so he started rehearsing with us instead.

The whole Saxophone thing was more a coincidence than a planned sound project. I told Tim that I play Saxophone and in the end it was his idea to experiment with it. In the beginning I had some difficulties because we didn’t have any idea how that whole thing should turn out but after a while we found our way. We had to do quite some experimenting with effects, microphones and all that to get it right. After all, there weren’t really any examples in doom that we could use for inspiration!.....

Karen & Barry What is your earliest memory of playing guitar bass and singing in front of a live audience with Canaan ?

(KAREN) Victory Station – Victory Station was CANAAN’s “Cavern Club”. A Nashville based coffee house complete with stage, lighting, and PA system. It was a concert rehearsal, working out parts, and introducing songs to a live audience. This gave us feedback and reaction to the songs. It was a gathering place for other artists and bands to fellowship.

Karen, can you give the readers a history of how did you hook up with Barry ?

(KAREN) Barry and I actually were singing songs together back in the 70’s. When our lives changed, “born again”. Barry began writing songs about Jesus. That began our Christian Music way of life. Most of the songs, music was folkish acoustic style. I wrote a few tunes at that time as well. We shared them in various churches and spiritual revivals. This was the beginning of our journey.

Can you please give the readers a history of how Chronicode started and how did you hook up with the members ?

Celo Oliveira is a well known producer based in Rio de Janeiro. A friend of mine (Gus Monsanto, singer, Human Fortress, ex- Adagio, ex- Revolution Renaissance) introduced me to him as the right person to produce Melyra’s first EP, “Catch me if you can” (2014), and the band’s first videoclip, “Silence”. We became close friends since that. In 2016, I decided to leave Melyra since he invited me to write an album with him  but it took me some time to believe I could accept the challenge: writing lyrics for each and every song on my own, as well as writing vocal melodies with him. It took me so long he almost gave up on me (kkk). After writing our first song, “Leave”, I suggested inviting Julia to join us. Julia used to play in a female thrash band called Scatha, whose first album, “Take the Risk” (2017), was produced by Celo as well. Then Chronicode was formed. Together, the three of us started writing and recording songs on a regular basis, releasing “Shapeshifter” later that year, in December 20th.

Sarah how did you develop your vocal style?

Sarah: I’ve listened to heavy metal for nearly 20 years, and have always loved to sing. As a child, I sang in a few choirs and at a few school talent shows and the like. I suppose I should give context about how the band formed and got to this point, it may be illuminating. When Vincent and I first formed the band in 2013, we were based in Calgary. I played drums and was writing the lyrics; he played guitars and provided vocals.

When we eventually relocated to Toronto to give the band a real shot, we had already been actively considering the internal shift, mostly due to “The Sword Woman.” Our original version of the song had Vincent singing, and when I incorporated the final section of the lyrics, I was singing and playing drums during that big double kick section. And honestly, it was a pain in the ass. So the further we developed our songs into their final form, the more we realized that a: the lyrics were coming from a woman’s perspective and b: drumming and singing is extremely difficult to do simultaneously, particularly when you’re doing big, clean vocals. So I suppose once I shifted over to vocals exclusively, I considered them from a drumming and melody perspective. I spent a lot of time not wanting to “just” be a singer, which I now recognize was foolish internal bias. But, shifting from drums to vocals made me want to fill up more space in a unique way, in an a way that a drummer does. Drummers are the rhythmic backbone, but great drummers are stylish and have great fills and deviate from expectations to make songs POP. I wanted to be a vocalist who did that same thing.

How and when did the band first get together ?

Andrea: Spiral Guru had already released their first single, "Let the Journey Begin", when Samuel Pedrosa, my longtime friend, invited me in 2015 to join the band. At the time, José Ribeiro Júnior, our bassist, was doing the vocals of the band.

I had just started singing in a band that used to play Classic Rock and a Black Sabbath Tribute, and although expressing myself through music was an old wish, it was one of those activities that I put aside in the face of life's complications. Therefore, at the moment of the first rehearsal with Spiral, I was an unexperienced singer, and had no prior experience with songwriting! I still feel like a novice: each rehearsal, each performance, each composition, each recording, is a learning experience.

– How you decided to become a lead singer in a Metal band?

Tanya- I started playing in bands when I was 17, singing and playing bass.  I used to sing in a goth band called Moral Hex, and my vocals were a lot deeper and more somber, and I would love to do something like that again. But I also love NWOBHM and have always wanted to try singing in that style as well.  Back when I first saw Chain, the band that came before Shadowland, I immediately liked what they were doing, and so when they came back together to form a new band, I was all in. Funny enough, my range became a lot higher than when I was younger.

– You are also a tattoo artist and you like to make very dark artworks, Do you have any reference artists? 

Tanya- My parents were occultists and I was raised as such.  I started watching horror films and reading science fiction/fantasy and horror as a very very young kid.  I remember on my childhood bookshelf there was a copy of Robert Blair’s “The Grave” with etchings by William Blake… so I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t obsessed with dark material, I never had a chance really! It’s truly a lifelong obsession. 

I have a degree in illustration from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, but I’ve been studying art and doing illustration (mostly for bands) my whole life. Lately tattooing has taken over my life, but I’ve still managed to do a few album covers in the last few years. Some favorite artists include Arnold Bocklin, Giger, Frazetta, Bernie Wrightson, Jeff Catherine Jones, Gustav Klimt, Frantisek Kupka….I guess I fluctuate from the symbolist movement to the pulps and underground comix of the 1970’s-80’s

Lorah started singing in front of an audience at the age of 5, perched on the bumper of her dad’s International cattle truck, singing songs from the radio to her dad and his associates. She began lessons and started performing at events around town at the age of 6 under the direction of Beth Leigh. Beth entered her in the annual Kiwanis Talent show, at which she won a 1st place trophy all three years that she participated. By then, singing had become her calling card. Beth convinced Dr. Blain Johnson, Corral Director at Southern Utah State College (now Southern Utah University (SUU)), to consider taking on Lorah, age 10 at the time, as a student. Although Dr. Johnson didn’t work with children, he made an exception for Lorah.

She continued classical voice training into her teens when Rock n Roll became her passion. Heavily influenced by the Beatles, Pink Floyd, and The Who she made the switch to rock and never looked back. Dr. Johnson was not happy about her decision fearing that she would damage her voice. He advised her to, “sing like I’ve taught you; if you don’t damage your voice, singing can bring you joy for your entire life. Your tastes may change and you will able to sing anything your heart desires.” She heeded that advice and the future he spoke of came to pass. Singing, writing, and recording have been a source of joy for her entire life.

Lorah performed with several rock bands (Moonraker, Nasty Habits, Circus, Zzyzx, BG Hunter, and briefly Windfall) from the Southern California area from the late 70s into the early 90s before taking a rather long break to pursue an academic career and raise her two youngest children. Although not part of a band at this time, she sang at many events, sat in with friends, and continued to write. She is now transitioning out of full-time academic work to further pursue musical interests. She states, “I was fortunate to be contacted a few years back by a colleague/fellow musician that I became acquainted with in the 1980s San Diego rock scene, Tristan des Pres, who asked me, "Hey, do you write lyrics?" A “yes” to that question opened a door to a writing partnership that resulted in the 11 songs that are included on the album, RAIN. Several singles, also a part of that project, are soon to follow...

Can you tell us more about your musical background 

My first band, Chapter 24 was an indie band, I played rhythm guitar an was lead vocalist. We just used to do local gigs. I was in that band for around six months. Then I joined She, where I was also lead vocalist but also just played locally. Then I met Steve White and formed War Machine.

The band: 

War Machine were a female-fronted heavy metal band from Newcastle, formed in 1983 and released only one LP in 1986. There was at least one more band under this name, playing industrial metal about the UK band, which is really remarkable. The main peculiarity of their music are the vocals, performed by Bernadette Mooney. Her "crying" manner of singing creates an incredibly gloomy atmosphere, not typical for the majority of NWOBHM bands, but well consistent with War Machine's lyrical themes (war and devastation).

From official LP bio by FABIO SALAS ZUNIGA (read the full story in their booklet LP album)...Chilean rock has never had much of a presence in the history of Spanish-sung rock music. However, there are specific cases in the classic rock era of diverse groups which made an intelligent proposal, mixing both the sound of modern rock and the Latin American rhythms. But there is only one Chilean band during the Sixties that broke away from the imitative style of trying to sound like American beat groups: Aguaturbia.

Aguaturbia (Troubled Water) was a rock combo in  a correct sense. Its sound, its style, the magnificent performance present in its records makes them the pre-eminent Chilean rock band to appear during the late Sixties and the early Seventies. The line-up of Aguaturbia was comprised of guitarist Carlos Corales, our first chilean guitar hero; his wife Denise on vocals, a natural Brazilian born female singer; bassist Ricardo Briones and drummer Willy Cavada (born Guillermo Bustamante who adopted the surname Cavada from the musicians of the Cavada Family, with whom he played). Carlos Corales and Cavada were both professional musicians who had made a previous career in rock and roll bands. Ricardo Briones was a self-taught bass player who strove to play a style heavily influenced by that of English bassist Jack Bruce.

Aguaturbia were leaders in Chilean rock before and after their fleeting existence. The music of the group was intense and open-hearted, a special kind of psychedelic blues and hard rock....

Shirley: Paul Eastment (Guitar) is cousin to Tony Iommi, but Paul has far as I know never had any interest in the occult. Paul loves fishing, a great love of his life. (!)

This psychedelic-sounding group was formed by singer/guitarist Paul Eastment (formerly of Velvett Fogg) in Birmingham during 1969. Charlie Grima was formerly drummer with the Wellington Kitch Jump Band. The Ghost had a now very-rare album and single issued on the Gemini Records label. The original name for the group was 'Holy Ghost' but was soon shortened in order to avoid any negative publicity. Coincidentally at about the same time, a struggling Aston band courted potential religious backlash when they changed their name from 'Earth' to Black Sabbath, while another West Midlands line-up risked blasphemy by naming themselves Judas Priest.

Local singer/songwriter Shirley Kent later joined the Ghost line-up to help create a sound not unlike the famous American West Coast band 'Jefferson Airplane' as fronted by vocalist Grace Slick. The group started recording an album in 1969 with a single being issued from it entitled 'When You're Dead'. The single and the resulting album that came out in early 1970 on the Gemini Records label, put The Ghost in the "progressive" music category although there was also a strong folk-rock influence probably due to Shirley Kent's involvement.

The album's liner notes written by Carl Denker stated; "The Ghost, before the end of 1970, will be the wave that is engulfing all that is new in music today. Listen to this LP with your mind open and each time you will find new voices speaking to you... all voices from the past, which as a matter of fact, are voices from the future."

A second Ghost single was issued later in 1970 but Shirley Kent left the group soon after to start a solo career. The remaining members continued after changing the band's name to 'Resurrection' but later split up with no further recordings released.

Charlie Grima joined Birmingham's Mongrel line-up before finding pop-stardom as a member of Roy Wood's chart-topping band 'Wizzard' (see The Move). He later embarked on an acting career. Former Ghost members Paul Eastment and Terry Guy also participated on Shirley Kent's solo album that was released in 1975. Danny MacGuire died in 1998.  Source : http://www.brumbeat.net/ghost.htm

- Any memories of you gig in France with Original Sin ?

Isa: Sure, we played a big festival with Coroner, Vengeance, and other bands in the north of France called Valley’ Rock Festival, we went to the swimming pool around the corner during the afternoon with the other bands, the weather was great, drinking beer, chatting and having fun, cool festival.

- I read you also guested in Tytan & joined Celtic Frost on stage, could you please tell us more ?

Isa: That happened in 1990 during the Vanity Nemesis tour. I met Celtic Frost at the Hippodrome club the night before the Astoria’s show in London. They knew me from Ice Age and they invited me to the show. Then they also asked me if I wanted to be their guest playing a song on stage with them, so the day after I turned up to the sound check with my guitar, I learnt the song Into the Pandemonium, and played it the same evening. Great memories.  

- 30 years later you are still in action with a true wild power with Self Disgrace 'Partner In Crime' with 7 studio tracks,  could you tell us more about this band ?

Self Disgrace was started in 2007 as a recording project. At the time I was approached by Sangre de Lyn, who was writing a book (It’s So Easy) set in the 80’s and she wanted to know some information about the golden ages of metal. She was also the vocalist in two cover bands, so I asked her whether she would’ve be willing to join my project and write the vocals for my songs. We got on so well that decided to extend the project into a live band. With drummer Cereus and bassist Krueger we released our first E.P. 'RR Rotten Revenge' in May 2009, mixed and mastered by ex Celtic Frost guitarist Curt Victor Bryant. After an intense live activity, we eventually broke up in 2010. Self Disgrace has come back in 2018 with a new line up consisted of me original member, Dielle Green, Overteo Businaro and Remo Monforte.
